Cast Iron Cookoff

Save the Date: March 15, 2025

The Houma Rotary Cast Iron Cookoff presented by Transech LLC features 30+ cooking teams serving their best dishes cooked in cast iron cookware. For just a small admission fee, you can taste everything, vote for your favorite, and support a great cause!

All event proceeds benefit the many local service projects of the Rotary Club of Houma, including education, leadership, and veteran projects in our community.​ In addition, to date we have donated $20,000 to local community causes.

In addition to delicious food, the Cast Iron Cookoff will have live local music, a Cast Iron Crawl throughout downtown Houma, and local artists displaying their work. You don’t want to miss this fabulous event!

2024 Event Benefits Local Veterans

Thank you to all who supported the 2024 Houma Rotary Cast Iron Cookoff. With your help, we donated $10,000 to the START Corporation’s Veterans Program to stock their food pantry for local veterans. 

2023 Event Benefits Local Fire Fighters

The Houma Rotary Foundation is proud to present a donation of $10,000 to the Terrebonne Fire Chief Association to purchase carbon monoxide monitors for the 13 fire departments in Terrebonne Parish.

TEAM REGISTRATION

RULES & GUIDELINES

  • Teams can cook ANY type of food they wish so long as ALL of the food is cooked in cookware made of cast iron.
  • All cooking must be done from start to finish utilizing cast iron cookware.
  • Only prep-work such as cutting vegetables and meat may be done prior to arrival.
  • No cooking of any type may be performed before arrival.
  • Teams must prepare enough servings for at least 750 people.

AWARD CATEGORIES

Judges will award 1st and 2nd place to the following categories: 

  • Meat/Game
  • Seafood
  • Dessert
  • Lagniappe (Other)

In addition, one team will be named People’s Choice by a tally of votes from attendees.

CRAWL INFO + REGISTRATION

Join us for the Cast Iron CRAWL, a fun downtown activity that will take you to your favorite places in downtown Houma and end at the Houma Cast Iron Cookoff to sample delicious dishes, enjoy live music, and much more!

Fill your Crawl Bingo Card by doing fun activities at local restaurants, bars, and downtown landmarks. Once you complete four tasks across, down, or diagonal on the card, bring it to the Cast Iron Cookoff (where you’ll have free entry) to turn in your card for a chance to win the grand prize – gift cards to Downtown Houma businesses!

You can fill in your Crawl Bingo Card any time Saturday, Feb. 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cards must be turned in to the entrance gate at Cast Iron Cookoff prior to 2:30 pm. to be entered to win the grand prize.

$10 entry gets you:

  • Bingo card to participate in the Cast Iron Crawl.
  • Discounted specials at participating downtown businesses.
  • Entry into the Cast Iron Cookoff (2/24/24 from 12-4 p.m. at Houma Courthouse Square) where you can sample delicious dishes prepared by local cooking teams, drinks, and live music.
  • Chance to win gift cards to downtown businesses.
  • Warm fuzzy feeling knowing you donated to help fund Houma Rotary Club service projects that benefit local elementary students, veterans, and the community including helping stock a Veteran Food Pantry!
